The Beithir’s Tale forms the third and final instalment of Ardbeg’s Anthology Series, released as a 15 Year Old Limited Edition. This collection draws inspiration from extraordinary stories and legendary encounters—mythical creatures said to have roamed the Isle of Islay and crossed paths with the distillery itself.
This particular release is influenced by the legend of the Beithir, a colossal, serpent-like creature believed to bring bad luck to anyone unfortunate enough to encounter it. According to distillery folklore, the fearsome beast once slithered its way into Ardbeg—at least, that’s how the tale is told.
A rare and highly sought-after expression, The Beithir’s Tale has been matured for 15 years in bespoke charred bourbon casks. These specially crafted casks were air‑seasoned, heavily toasted, and finished with a light charring, contributing depth and complexity to the whisky.
The release has been awarded Gold medals at both the International Spirits Challenge and the International Wine & Spirit Competition, recognising its outstanding quality.
