Benriach 12 Year Old Smoky is a richly layered Speyside single malt that brings together fruit, malt, oak, and expressive peat smoke. Matured for at least twelve years in a combination of bourbon, sherry, and Marsala wine casks, this expression builds on Benriach’s longstanding tradition of lightly peated whisky production. Bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration, it delivers a bold yet balanced style where sweetness and smoke exist in elegant harmony.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Warm and aromatic, with waves of apple wood smoke, vanilla, and honeyed malt. Notes of baked orchard fruits, dried citrus peel, and toasted oak are layered with gentle spice.
Palate
Full‑flavoured and smooth. Sweet malt, caramel, and ripe pear are wrapped in soft peat smoke, while sherry and Marsala casks contribute dried fruit richness, cocoa, and warming spice. The smoke is assertive yet refined, adding depth rather than dominance.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering smoky sweetness, soft oak tannin, and echoes of fruit and spice that fade slowly.
