Benromach 15 Year Old

Benromach's most awarded whisky and often called their "Classic." Made with lightly peated malted barley, a nod back to how Speyside whiskies were made before the 1960s, before the region shifted towards lighter, unpeated styles. Matured exclusively in first fill sherry and ex-bourbon casks for 15 years. Bottled at 43% ABV, no added colouring.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet toffee, cracked black pepper and soft peat smoke. Orange peel, figs and prunes, with cedar and a slightly nutty edge underneath.

Palate: Rich forest fruits, dark chocolate and dried banana. Creamy and sweet, ripe apples with an undertone of charred oak. Ginger and white pepper add some bite.

Finish: Toasted malt, orange peel and a subtle trace of smoke lingering through to the end.

A genuine throwback dram, this is what Speyside used to taste like before it went all soft and honeyed. Great for showing people there's more to the region than just easy sipping malts.
