Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old
Dalwhinnie is one of Scotland's highest distilleries, sitting over a thousand feet up in the Cairngorms in the heart of the Highlands. It's part of Diageo's Classic Malts range, alongside names like Lagavulin and Talisker. Matured predominantly in ex-bourbon casks, with the distillery's distinctive worm tub condensers giving the spirit its trademark soft, waxy body. Bottled at 43% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Heather honey, vanilla and ripe pear, with soft malt and a whisper of Highland smoke underneath. A light floral quality, apple blossom and a touch of beeswax.
Palate: Smooth and honeyed, with citrus, toffee and gentle spice. Apple skins and salted almonds, a little caramel and syrup, building into black pepper as it develops.
Finish: Long, clean and warming, with lingering honey, orchard fruit and a faint trace of peat smoke.
One of the most approachable Highland malts out there. Gentle, honeyed and easy drinking, a good gateway dram for someone stepping up from blends into single malt.
