Fable Chapter 2: Folk, Linkwood 10 Year Old
Fable is an independent single cask and blended malt bottler built entirely on storytelling, using animation and illustration to bring Scottish folk tales to life through whisky. Chapter 2, "Folk," tells the legend of the Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay. This particular cask comes from Linkwood, a Speyside distillery near Elgin dating back to 1821, long relied upon by blenders for Johnnie Walker and beyond. Single cask, cask strength, bottled at 56.7% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural colour.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Green apple, buttered burnt toast, grassy and nutty, with soft spice underneath.
Palate: Sweet and soft to start, green fruit and acidity, lemon, crisp green apple, fresh mint and green tea. A few drops of water bring out soft white chocolate and honey.
Finish: White chocolate, lavender and fresh green apple skin, clean and refined all the way through.
A great showcase of what Linkwood does best, delicate, floral and fruit driven, without the sherry or big oak influence masking the distillery character. The storytelling angle on the label also makes this an easy one to talk about beyond just the liquid.
