Founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama, Japan, Chichibu Distillery is known for small‑batch production, traditional methods, and innovative cask use. It has quickly earned a global reputation for crafting refined, characterful Japanese whiskies despite its young age.
A rare and complex blended malt whisky combining whisky from Chichibu Distillery with remaining stocks from Ichiro’s grandfather’s Hanyu Distillery. The blend features sherry‑matured Hanyu malt married with Chichibu malt matured in Japanese Mizunara oak, creating depth, heritage, and contrast.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Dried fruit, sherry richness, honey, sandalwood, gentle spice
Palate: Layers of malt sweetness, raisin, dark chocolate, oak spice, and orchard fruit
Finish: Medium‑long, warming, with lingering sherry depth, soft wood spice, and elegant dryness
