Jura The Paps 19 Year Old

Named after the iconic Paps of Jura, the three distinctive quartzite peaks that dominate the island's rugged landscape. Originally released for the travel retail market. Matured for 19 years in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in hand-selected Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, casks that previously held 40 year old PX sherry, giving it real depth. Bottled at 45.6% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ginger cake, vanilla and a hint of balsamic glaze, with dark dried fruit, brown sugar and mild spice.

Palate: Spiced pear, rich fig syrup and roasted walnut, moving into dried fruit, barbecued peaches and toffee. A touch of coffee and oily nuts.

Finish: Long, nutty and opulent, with lingering sea spray and maritime character tying it back to the island.

A rich, indulgent dram and one of the better releases in the Jura range. The extended PX finish gives it real sherry depth without losing that classic Jura maritime, oily peat thread underneath.
