Kyoto Nishijin Ori Murasaki

Kyoto Whisky Murasaki-Obi (Nishijin-ori)

Produced by Kyoto Shuzo at the Kyoto Miyako Distillery, this is a 100% malt whisky and part of the brand's Nishijin-ori range, named after Kyoto's centuries old textile weaving tradition, with each label colour representing a different style. Murasaki (purple) is the malt expression, bottled at 43% ABV with no age statement. It's picked up back to back Gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich, malty aroma with a well balanced smokiness running underneath. Layers of dark fruit and caramel.

Palate: Smooth and rounded, vanilla up front with spiced oak coming through. A delicate touch of chocolate rounds it out.

Finish: Lingering and harmonious, warm oak spice with that smoky thread carrying through to the end.

A distinctly Kyoto expression, elegant and refined with a level of craftsmanship that nods to the city's traditional artistry.
